Making a Website

To be a successful photographer you have to be able to market yourself and show what you can do. Really, any business or service needs to be able to do this. Since photography is such a diverse and competitive field, it's even more important that you have a good website to use as a promotional tool. There are many way you can go about making a website. Some involve coding, simple css work, or paying someone to build and manage a site for you. For our purposes we will build a ite with Weebly, a simple and free drag and drop style site builder. Before we get into using Weebly, I would like you to browse through professionally made portfolios and website. Take a look at this link. There's a ton of good, varied sites for you to look at. You may want to take a look at this article on mistakes that people make on their own sites. As you look at the sites, make a list of the pages that are common on them, things that you like about them, and may want to do on your own site.
From there I would like you to develop a site map. This is a list of all of the pages and subpages that will exist on your site. Think about how you would like visitors to navigate through your site and the point of your site as you build this site map. Refer back to the examples that you looked at early. Once this plan has been made, you can move forward with building the site.
